1. Why does the blanket
smoke after installation?
When
weaving the silica, there is a light application of FDA
lubricant sprayed to assure a tight weave.
2. Are the blankets labeled?
Yes,
one of the straps on each blanket has the press number
and a blanket location.
3. Should the blanket
fit tight?
No, when
installing, simply feed the strap through the
buckles and snug down.
4. Should I have high
temperature wire?
Yes,
at least 900 degrees F.
5. Should I clean plastic
and or any oil off my blanket surfaces?
Yes
6. Will my temperatures
over shoot?
Yes,
only for about 5 to 10 minutes. The PID controller will
automatically tune.
7. Will heat transfer
from zone to zone?
No, usually
each zone is preset for certain temperatures.
8. Will the blanket burn?
No, the
component in the blanket will not support
combustion, unless exposed to hydraulic oil.
9. Will plastic stick
to the outside of the blanket?
No, there
is Teflon coating on the exterior.
10. Will plastic stick
to the inside of the blanket?
Yes,
the plastic will absorb into the satin weave of the
fabric. The cure, use a drool disc or a UniTherm drool
bonnet.
11. What is the touch
temperature outside the blanket?
Approximately
100-120 degrees F.

conduct electricity?
No
13. Are the blankets
made of asbestos?

14. How long will the
blanket last?
Take
normal care of them and they will last indefinitely.
15. Can the OEM schrod
fit over a set of installed blankets?
Yes,
in most cases.
16. Are the slits for thermocouples?
Yes,
in most cases the width of the blanket segments fall
between the thermocouples.
17. How do we accommodate electrical junction boxes?
Typically
the blanket wraps over the box, or a cutout can be
made.
18. Can we use a blanket
in a clean room environment?
Yes,
the blanket must fit over the schrod.
19. Do you make blankets
for any application?
Yes,
anywhere there is heat loss.
20. How long does it
take to install a typical blanket system on an
injection-molding machine?
Less
than 30 minutes.
21. How long is the typical
payback?
Less
than 12 months.
22. Are the plant ambient
conditions cooler?
Yes,
lowering plant temperatures by as much as 15 degrees.
23. Do blankets burn
out heaters?
No, cycle
times burn out heaters. With a blanket installed
the cycle times are reduced.
24. When I start a machine
that is insulated will I come up to my pre-set
temperature faster?
Yes,
about 50% faster.
25. When I shut down
my insulated machine on Friday will it be warm
when I start-up Sunday night?

26. Can blankets be used
in processing any type of resin?
No, blankets
should not be used when injection molding
