Blanket Design for Covered Terminals or J-Box

Thermocouples (TC) and supports are the main objects that determine the width of a blanket. This custom blanket covers the terminals or junction boxes. Here only the width and the circumference around everything to be covered is important.

Only four (4) types of information are needed.

  1. The first measure is the blanket inside circumference measurement around the heaters including the spring bolts if present, J-Boxes and Terminals.
  2. The blanket width measurements between the TC/supports (or other types of obstacle).

Summery

  1. Circumference

Surveying a Line (Walkthrough)

Now let's say the above figure of a ø6" barrel is yours. It has Ceramic or Mica Band Heaters. You want to survey it and order blankets to insulate it, including the J-Boxes.

The blanket areas/zones are labeled; Rear, M1, M2 . . . FRONT.

Here' s how to determine the Part Nos. for those areas.

Start at the Rear of the machine, name the zone "REAR"

Part No. Prefix for ceramic/mica band blankets covered terminals or j-boxes is BRRL.

Circumference = 22.5" round this up to 23".

Rear width = 5-1/4" round this up to 6" and make it a double digit 06.

REAR. . . BRRL-2306

The next zone is M1. Repeat the steps above.

M1. . . BRRL-2321

In zone M2 you get;

M2. . . BRRL-2316

In zone M3;

M3. . . BRRL-2311

The last zone is "FRONT"

FRONT. . . BRRL-2306
