Injection Molding

UniTherm insulation jackets and wraps protect personnel working near high-temperature injection molding equipment by holding process heat inside injection barrels. Our systems efficiently insulate hot surfaces, so employees can safely touch the outside of the blankets while machines are running.

In addition to personnel safety, UniVest systems significantly reduce electric costs by lowering ambient air temperature and reducing the energy needed to heat machines. These substantial energy savings often pay for the cost of insulation in less than 12 months.

UniTherm offers both off-the-shelf solutions for insulating injection molding equipment and custom designed insulation systems. Our unique design technology allows us to create custom insulation jackets with notches, donuts, cut-outs or even thicker insulation for higher temperature equipment.

We also offer easily removable insulation solutions for frequent process changes. Learn more about Quick Cool for process temperature changes.

Insulation Efficiency of UniVest Jackets

The example below shows the surface temperature with insulation systems of various thicknesses. Based on a process temperature of 550°F in a facility with an ambient air temperature of 80°F. We make standard UniVest systems with 1" insulation, but can include thicker insulation for custom specifications.

Insulation Jacket Thickness Surface Temperature Heat Loss (BTU/hr/ft) Efficiency
Bare 548.0°F 5342.00 0%
0.5" 162.3°F 530.00 90.08%
1.0" 124.5°F 272.30 94.90%
1.5" 108.2°F 174.50 96.73%
2.0" 101.7°F 137.90 97.84%
